THE START OF THE REST OF THE YEAR

In 2026, Labour Day weekend is generally thought of as a holiday that ends summer and begins the rest of the year. This works as a weekend to have fun before school, before it gets colder and probably a lot of other befores. But to know why, Labour Day has its origins in the 1872 printers’ strike in Toronto, where workers fought for a nine-hour workday, marking a significant milestone in the changing relations between workers and the government. This event led to the establishment of Labour Day as a public holiday in Canada, celebrated on the first Monday of September, to honor the achievements of the labour movement and workers' rights. So...with lots of economic problems looming in our Canada at
the moment, let's use this weekend as a collaboration between all ideas. Let's cheer labour on, support our government who has the strength to stand up to a bully and let's also have a holiday. Go Canada go! We are a family, a diverse family for sure but a family nonetheless.
