ARAN IRISH WOOL SWEATERS WARM, CLASSY, EXTREMELY SEXY
|
The origin of the Aran sweater can be traced back to Guernsey, an island 400 miles South-East of the Aran Islands. Much of Guernsey's trade relied on fishing and the clothing requirements of fishermen were quite demanding. Sheep were the only animals on the land and fishing was the only employment. The fishermen needed sweaters and wool was available. Once the island women started knitting sweaters for their husbands, there was no stopping them from developing their
skills and their symbolic stitch designs.

ORIGINALLY KNITTED FOR MEN BUT... WOMEN ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE LOOK

Women love this side-zip design which is casual and yet looks so overwhelmingly comfortable. The grey color offsets the stitches done in the traditional patterns. Comes in either this length or coat length. Both stunning.

Awesome jacquard designed coat with hood. Knitted with a mixture of traditional Aran cable, honeycomb and moss stitches with a Celtic jacquard design on the hem, cuffs and hood, giving this beautiful coat a unique design feature. Also has a Celtic trinity knot design on the zipper. Brings luck.

NATURAL CABLE KNIT SWEATER
|
The tenacious image of Ireland with those bold white knits has always scored internationally. Fans over the years have included Steve McQueen, Steven Spielberg, Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelly. But...even though the neat thing that has evolved since those days is the use of color, the original look and style is timeless. Sustainable is not a new word for these sweaters. They last and last. Totally UNISEX but this is a great photo.

A popular color and it suits almost everyone. The traditional Irish stitching is so noticeable on this Marl Blue Zip Long Cardigan. Even the collar is stitched to match. Sensational sweater.

As usual, we are always trying to bring you something that is unique and fun but I was thinking that we do also always try to keep you up on the new trends for traditional products. Irish sweaters are an interesting example. Can't say they are new. Can't say that no one has ever heard of them before. But the world is continuously changing and Irish sweaters are moving with the times. Color is in this year. All kinds of colors. The zippered coats are terrific for
Canadian weather, spring and fall especially. Come and see. Really fun to just look at. Lots of other stuff is happening as well. We have a new Rob McIntosh song which you can hear on our Facebook post (Don't know how to put the link here). Adorably us. Our new Yup Supermarket opens in a couple of weeks. You will hear lots about what is so cool about it as it happens. Patience is so difficult. Meantime, drop in and visit. Have a butter tart and a latte. Pick up some Donini chocolate to put
in the freezer for moments when a sugar need arises. Wander around our hallways checking out the wonderful new winter clothing, the amazing Alpaca shipment that just arrived, the new Wrendale mugs and of course, the new Croc shipment. If you have fun when you are here, then please give us a review and if you'd like to share this newsletter, then of course, we'd love it. Talk again next week. Barb
